Bei Jing Huan Yin Ni (Beijing Welcomes You)

5 words to welcome the world... 5 words that hide the might of the Orient... 5 words that hide the pain behind the smile... 5 words that now represent the Olympics of the Orient.

Never before had this event generated such curiousity of so many people at the same time... Was it because of the location of the event? Or was it courtesy the host country? Or was it the events leading up to it? In my opinion, it was all of that and much more... It was of the biggest events through which the world was going to get a glimpse of the 'new', 'reformed', and 'friendly' Orient.

Wading through history, this country had a lot to offer... a different outlook about itself, a change in attitude, an insight into themselves besides the usual culture, ethnics, language and cuisines... but the world had a lot on it's plate to digest and found it hard to swallow the sichuan style of presentation...

8-8-2008 8PM - considered by many locals as an auspicious day to make a new beginning... and start they did, in a way that astonished the world beyond their imagination. The culmination of years of planning, strategizing, hard-work, all brought down to that one single moment... But even that moment of truth, had an aura of being just too right to be true... Like the voice of that girl who was not brought on camera and had a body-over done by another one (who was more 'presentable')...

... to be continued ...
